Protovin™ BQ
(Astringency Reduced Formulation of Grape Seed Extract 95% OPC)

Protovin™ BQ (beverage quality) is a premium grape seed extract with the tannins reduced. Tannins give grape seeds that astringent taste which is why grape seed extract manufactures have always encapsulated the powder for oral ingestion. Omega Biotech and Global Health Source Canada have developed  a proprietary process to reduce the astringency of grape seed extract while still maintaining an olgomeric proanthocyanidin  (OPC) level of 95%.  Protovin™BQ is the first premium grape seed extract to be available in this formulation.

Protovin™ BQ is ideal for beverages because of its high water solubility and attendant bioavailability. Our customers report that Protovin™BQ  is ideal for mixing in beverages and food  combining high potency and solubility with satisfying taste.

With our in-house taste test, 50-100 mg of Protovin™BQ grape seed extract (95% OPC) in 500 ml of water produced no noticeable alterations in taste. In fact, no discernible difference in taste was noticed until 200 mg of Protovin™BQ  was added to 500 ml of water.

Based on our experience and that of our customers, we recommend the use of 50-100 mg Protovin™BQ per 355 ml serving of beverage or 150-300 mg per liter as a guideline.
